SEA the Good – June 2024

The experiences we have for the first time in childhood are the ones that stay with us for life. Whether it’s your first bike ride, your first camp or your first beach holiday. Unfortunately, not all children get to enjoy such experiences.

THE PROBLEM: According to a study carried out by UNICEF Romania in 2022, approximately 60% of children in Romania who come from disadvantaged backgrounds have never reached the sea. This represents approximately 2 million children. Lack of access to the sea limits children’s opportunities for development and reduces their environmental awareness.

THE SOLUTION: Last year we managed to offer a 3-day experience at the sea for 10 children from Slănic, Prahova county. 3 days full of excitement, smiles, going to the dolphinarium, a gondola ride and a beach greening action. We will also take at least 15 children from disadvantaged backgrounds to the sea for the first time in 2024, who did not have the opportunity to enjoy the waves of the sea and the wet sand. Moreover, we will make sure that during the 3 days there they will participate in as many fun and educational activities as possible for them.

EXPECTED IMPACT: The project gives children the opportunity to discover the world, experience new activities and learn things about themselves. Moreover, the project also has an educational side, because the little ones learn about the importance of a clean and healthy environment, through the sanitation activities organized for them.
